Really enjoyed reading this post! I lived at my grandparents farm off and on growing up and it brought back memories. One of the “lessons” I learned through this interview is to never give up even if it takes a while.
Thanks for this latest review/interview! Although I live in a Kentucky city now, these illustrations remind me of the rural landscapes near the small Ky town where I grew up. Really enjoying your book reviews, thanks again!
I just received this lovely book and am looking forward to savoring it over the next few chilly West Virginia nights! Wonderful recommendation. Thank you!
My late mom and her siblings were born in Western KY. I was born in Owensboro, KY but only lived in KY for 4 years before Mom's divorce. The interview and process are inspiring! I love that Arwen went for it and flew by the seat of her pants. This feels organic and freeing.
I love the look of this book. And I concur that having newsletter subscribers really helps you get a book like this across the line. I had so much great feedback before I put out my illustrated memoir. It made the book better than if I’d done it alone. It also gave me the confidence to do an in person launch, something I’ve never done for previous books. Writing, drawing and marketing are hard! It’s good to have help.
Thank you for the interview with Arwen! I have read the book--we were one of the CSA members of David and Arwen's farm. And, I appreciate learning how you experienced the book.
Every book reviewed so far has ended up on my wishlist. This one looks beautiful!
I'm glad you like the selections so far! :)

Yes, this book is certainly a beautiful portal to those everyday scenes. Glad you enjoyed reading it!

This has quickly become my favorite Substack!
Oooh, this one looks wonderful, Rosalie! Thank you for sharing. And, Arwen, thanks so much for sharing your story.
