Looks like a great read! You may also like the Cold Canyon Fire Journals by Robin Lee Carlson, it also features a lot of nature drawings from the author.

Looks like a beautiful and informative book. I was also enjoying the headings as you flipped through. The author clearly loves a clever turns of phrase and words that roll off the tongue. I noticed a fair amount of alliteration, which always pleases the lit major in me.

I also perk up in the presence of alliteration! Something I'll never grow out of :)

Thank you so much Rosalie. Your book reviews are one of my favourites newsletters. I think we share a common passion of checking out the nature section of bookstores. I’m always on the lookout for books like these full of beautiful artwork and interesting information. Hope your heat wave breaks soon. It’s raining and cool here on my part of the west coast, currently curled up with my pooch on our covered porch listening to the rain hit the roof.

Looks beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing! I hadn’t heard of adult picture books, but I’ve had one in the works for some time. I never really let myself imagine it could actually be published—but maybe now is the time. 🌞

Thanks for sharing this Rosalie. I believe in serendipity and when I came over here to post about a milkweed pod that I just finished drawing, your post was the top of my feed!

The first adult picture book I fell in love with is Foraging & Feasting: A Field Guide and Wild Food Cookbook by Dina Falconi, illustrated by Wendy Hollender (2013) which lead me to Botanical Drawing in Color by Wendy Hollender (2010). And of course, a few years ago, thanks to my Uncle Don in Pgh., I now have your beautiful books! xo

I, too, had to own this book -- it's such incredible information with amazing illustrations! I learned a lot and am in awe of the milkweed pollination "slots" and pollen pod pairs (pollinia) that fit perfectly and accidentally into them! I dissected a milkweed flower recently and with using my loupe magnifier to see, extracted a pollinia that I could see & identify! Such fun exploration of all things Monarchs & Milkweeds!
